FAQs

1. Why Yellow?

Yellow is the color of sunshine, hope, and happiness. Yellow stands for freshness, happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy.

Studies show that the meaning of the color yellow can be warmth, cheerfulness, increased mental activity, increased muscle energy. The color yellow helps activate the memory, encourage communication, enhance vision, build confidence, and stimulate the nervous system. (source: BournCreative.com)

We heart the rich meaning and significance of this sunny hue. We hope it's the color you see behind your closed eyes on a sunny day. And we hope when this pop of color catches your eye from the corner of your room that you are inspired, even for a moment, to pause and breath -- that is an incredible commitment to practice.

2. What kind of Yoga do you teach?

Yellow Mat Yoga, Movement, Meditation, and School of General Life Awesomeness empowers it's teachers to create practices and diverse and authentic as themselves. We offer a variety of asana practice styles you'd find at a typical yoga studio -- think creative flowing power vinyasa sequence, sweet restorative + yin, along with an occasional Kundalini pop-up. But, we consider Yoga + Meditation more of an applied science, than an exercise or wellness activity. Put more simply -- anything can be yoga, so long as we are consciously practicing the principles of yogic philosophy. Have an interesting practice idea? Let us know.

3. How does The 3{P} Program Work?

Our practice makes possible system has three components:

  • Local community membership support our YM Community Queue, to provide low-cost memberships to those who are in need of Yoga. We reduce barriers to entry by requiring a simple email application, along with (4) hours of committed service at the studio or in their community.

  • Every month, teachers pay-forward their time, teaching public classes in order to “bank” paid studio time to hold workshops + teach yoga to their selected non-profit or under resourced populations.

  • We create the opportunity for a teacher to provide paid service to a service organization, and donations directly to our sponsored non-profits.
